So last night was the draft for the Nevertilt Football pool. We had most of the guys show up for the live draft, with some guys that left it to auto pick. I of course drew my nemesis, TNT teammate (and don’t tell anyone, but one of my best friends) Onemanblitz in the first week. His domain is fantasy football so I will take great pleasure into beating his ass soundly in this pool.
I am new to fantasy football, having only started playing last year, but let me tell you. Sooooooooooooo much fun. It adds so much to the season for a mere 20 bucks. I am getting the NFL package on tv, I got the yahoo stat tracker which is incredible to keep track of your stuff, so I am ready to go. Can’t wait.
As far as my team, meh, not sure. I got some potential but we’ll have to wait and see. I didn’t take my token San Fran player this year (but low and behold EVERYONE of em but Gore went undrafted, lol) and I am a little iffy about my first pick. I went with Barber who I really like, but I think I should have taken Addai in that spot, which was 5th overall, maybe even Randy Moss. Oh well, 6 days til kickoff, can’t wait!

Haven’t posted here forever but Favre going to the Jets is enough to get me out of hibernation.
Never been a packers fan but how can you find yourself rooting against Favre. He just seems like a cool shit. A guy that would sit down with my crew, with a beer and fit right in. I hope he does well in NY, but I hope we don’t go thru this merry go round for another 2 or 3 years. I think the way that the Packers treated him thru all of this is horrible. I just think he was sore, tired, and dejected after not going as far as he wanted, and wasn’t positive he had the mindset to put himself thru another camp, and another season. Who really believed 6 months ago when he retired that was the last time you saw him try to throw a ball through his reciever? Not this guy.
Can’t wait for football.

Well that was a better round not only did I pick both the my Pens and the Wings but I even predicted the correct amount of games to get here.
Now my heart is leaning towards the Pens here but my brain is thinking the Wings so I will go with my heart I predict the Pens take it in 6 games. Why do I think the Pens can overcome there youth and stun the experience Wings for the cup.
I look at it this way both teams are playing confident hockey and they get all the bounces. Pens are younger but even though TSN said they wouldn’t be as hungry I will tell you that there young and young people hate losing so I hope that hatred causes lucky bounces and top shelves goals hahaha.
In goal I don’t care about all the Fleury haters out there I believe we have the edge yeah Osgood has been alright but his defence has been really what is making him better. Now as far as offence I think there both on the same page but I will give the edge to the 4th line for Detroit cause they have a bit more speed then Laraque and Hall. As far as the Defence Detriot has the edge I think the Pens have 7 better defenceman as a whole but the top 4 for Detroit are as good as any in the league and will play on both the Crosby and Malkin lines.
Heres is how I believe it will unfold, Detroit takes game one in a convincing fashion 5-2. Young guys a bit nervous no worries they come back and with nerves take game 2 in OT 4-3. Now game 3 goes to OT again but the young legs keep working hard cause it’s 2 OT required but Pens win 2-1. Game 4 close one again but the offence is there and the Pens take it 5-3 with an empty net. Game 5 Detroit plays the way they have been all year and win it 5-1 to get back in the series just to see there hopes and dreams come crashing down to a 4-1 series and Stanley Cup win from the PENS.
I am probably just dreaming here but it feels good just to be in the Finals WOOOOO but good luck to the Pens if they win they beat the best if they lose well they lose to the best this so far is a big step towards what they will bring next year

Well again I was wrong on 50% of the matchup’s in round 2 but the one that really suprised me was Dallas. I know Montreal should’ve, could’ve, would’ve, blah blah blah won but they didnt’ and that makes me HAPPY :oD. Anyways here is what I think could happen next.
How can you go againts a team like the Red Wings… well you shouldn’t but i’m 0-2 so far in the Stars Series but what the hell I could go 0-3 so I will say the Wings in 6. Quick note why. The Wings have a team loaded of selky players, Zetterberg, Draper, Pavel and Lidstrom. Even more impressive is I was watching them in game 4 againts the Avs and you know Lidstroms plays on the other teams top unit well guess what he had 0 hits in that second round series. No he isn’t hurt he is just so sound that he doesn’t have to hit to make plays that’s impressive.
Now for what I think should be the series of the playoffs so far. I am a Pens fan so don’t take this one to the bank yet but watching all Pens game the past few years the best games have come to the hands of the Flyers. Last year we had there number but besides that it’s been even. I really believe the Flyers go for the intimidation factor and take runs at Crosby and Malkin but that equals a PP most of the time and I really think the Pens will make them pay. I will say the Pens in 5 games. Cudos to the Flyers for taking the habs out so basically every other canadien in the country that will cheer for just any canadien team cause that’s just bullshit… stick to your team and if there gone then watch the games but don’t comment on them. Anyways I see a Pens and Wings final and if that’s true my Pens have there hands full.

Well so far I will tell you I am the biggest Pens fan you can imagine but I didn’t see this coming. 7-0 to start the playoffs I dont’ care who you are if the biggest fan didn’t see that coming neither do you. But can’t say I am not liking it haha. What about the Dallas Stars they couldn’t win a game after there dealine deals and there on a tear right now and there D is either super young or super old no inbetween so yeah those are my biggest suprises so far in the NHL playoffs.
Now to baseball, in the AL first cause I follow it much closer… yeah the Red Sox are doing ok but there tied with NY right… ah no the Blue Jays then… wait a sec the Baltimore Orioles??? Well ok atleast the Central is the Indians and Tigers right… hmmm nope how about the white sox will both other teams are 4th and 5th?? Well the Angels are in first but there tied with the young guys from the A’s that were to win 60 games to the most this year?
Now to the NL well atleast the Mets are leading right… no it’s the Marlins again ??? and what about Arizona having the best winning% in the league at .704… and St-Louis is still up there with the Cubs. Believe me I am really struggling in my fantasy leagues online so far cause I saw things alot differently in baseball then what’s actually happening.
That’s my sports update for the week I am just really confused right now

Last night at the end of the Montreal and Philly game a fan or more then one showered Richards with a or more then a beer in the Penaltie box. Heres my question should the NHL adopt the glass on top of the opposing penaltie box or should the home team be penalized for fans really interferring in the game?
My opinion is if the fans get involved with anything more then verbal the home team should be punished with a Penaltie and the fan ejected. Fans would start to think twice about actually getting involded physically in the game.

Well, the early weeks of the baseball year has been frustrating. No I don’t expect one bit of sympathy for “the evil empire” but jesus. Jeter and arod, two guys that have missed what, 100 games combined in over 20 years of play have both been hurt, Hughes getting crushed, Musina being Musina, (never liked him), Joba leaving the team……frustrating.
The Rangers on the other hand are looking great. I am working nights at work so having trouble watching any early games but am hitting the late games on tv. The playoffs are entertaining as always, and am looking forward to round two.
Off to watch the Lakers game.

What’s up with the Toronto Blue Jays? They went from an extremely balanced lineup with a really good bullpen and 5 pretty good starters to a lineup with barely any pop, a shaky pen and a rotation that is highlighted by a human looking Holladay and 4 other unproven guys…. I am pissed!!!! I mean right before spring training broke.. the lineup card looked like this…
Eck
Rios
Wells
Thomas
Rollen
Stairs/Stewart
Overbay
Hill
Zaun….
Nice baseline lineup with some depth!!!
But with Stewart hitting 200, they letting Thomas go, Rollen starting on the shelf and Rios being out a couple of games with the flu, here is the lineup they had tonight while losing they’re 2nd straight to Tampa Bay with Doc on the hill:
Eckstein
Stewart
Hill
Wells
Stairs
Zaun
Diaz
Inglett….
WTF!!!! Well sounds like another promising hyped up spring is turning into another disappointing start to yet another season. Just look at that lineup? Man I need to go watch my DVD’s of the Patriots recent Superbowls or something…..

Well that was an entertaining first round but pretty predictable if I go 7-1 then you know something is wrong haha. Anyways probably nobody will see this but just in-case I need to continue my predictions so I can have a better record then Maggie the Monkey.
First in the EAST
Montreal (1) vs Philly (6)
Montreal PP that had such a terrible playoffs so far are going to have plenty of practice and should heat up unfortunately. Flyers are a very undisiplined team that just manage to beat what I felt was a bad Wash team. Biron will either be a hero or 0 in this series. Bottom line specials teams will decide this series Montreal in 6.
Pittsburgh (2) vs New York (5)
I can honestly say I was hoping for a Wash win so this series didn’t happen yet in the second round. There should be a bit of rust showing on both teams to start the series. I like the NYR veterans up front, they are playoff proven and might be the biggest key in this match-up. Avery will be Avery again but there is another one on the Pens call Ruutu that can be a pain also. I see this series going a long way but in the end I think skills will overmatch experience so I take Pittsburgh Penguins in 6.
Now in the West
Detroit (1) vs Colorado (6)
Now 2 things might happen here, first this could be the series to watch in round 2 just for the rivalry and the fact that alot of Avs players came back and they remember the hatred these 2 clubs have for each other. Or on the second had the best team this year in the NHL decides to play now and they are no match for the Avs. Detroit in 5
San Jose (2) vs Dallas (5)
Well you have almost the 2 biggest upsets in the first round playing. One the Stars congrats to them took out the Ducks for the big upset and 2 the Sharks again almost folded under pressure yet again. But this time the Sharks didn’t and they played a really though playoff team in Calgary. Sharks big boys are going to run all over Dallas young guys not only with power but speed. Sharks sweep 4-0.
So to summarize what I think will happen in the Semi’s Mtl vs Pit and Det vs SJ. I know I didn’t really go out the box here and took but 1-2 teams in both conference but I think all 4 teams just have the all around game better then anyone else. My only homer pick in this round is the Pens I think they should win but I am a bit nervous about how good NY goaltending is. And to close off I think its BS that a player of Gonchar talent wasnt’ nominated for the Norris I am super disappointed in the league. Gonchar plays for Toronto or Montreal not only is he nominated but probably even wins it.
